The Prague Powder Tower or Powder Gate Literally Translated from Czech “Prasna Brana” is one of many towers in City of Prague. Powder Tower is made in Gothic style and it’s one of the oldest city gates and one of most important Prague Tourism locations.  Powder Tower is Gate to the Old Town and it represent one of most important Prague Symbols. Created at 1475, Powder Tower is build as one of 13 gates created at this time in city of Prague. When construction started building was connected with small bridge to the Royal Palace (Check photo Bellow: Bridge is on the left side of Tower). In History, Powder tower was important untill 1836 for the Bohemian Monarchs and Kings because they would pass trough Powder Tower Gate on their way to the Saint Vitus Cathedral.

The Powder Tower is  projected from headmaster constructor Matěj Rejsek established with projects from Peter Parler for the Old Town Bridge Tower at the base of Charles Bridge. It’s at present among the a couple of remainders of the munitions that at one time bordered the city.

Origins say that tower is first known as the Mountain Tower, but since building was used for an gunpowder storage around the 17th century it get today’s name “Powder” tower.  Prague Powder tower is easy to find. It’s located at the end of old town, connected with Municipal House.
